The following details are of my dear father who served his country in the R.A.F. 1939-1947,
having volunteered when war was first declared.

Francis Arnold Spriggs. L.A.C. 1350839.

He had four medals which I believe to be
the 1939-45 Italy Star.
1939-45 unknown Star.
The Defence medal.
Plus a British War medal for mention in dispatches.
He served at King's Lynn and was then sent to Italy and Austria.

He was a very hard working man and was presented with a plaque by the local council for 49 years working as a journeyman. Excepting for the six years he served in the R.A.F. He was a firm but fair Dad and I still miss him every day of my life. I only wish I had told him how much he meant to me when he was alive.

This is my tribute to a wonderful father and many millions more like him who fought to keep us free.

This was submitted by Maureen Cummins in memory of her beloved father.
